Moana Rentals, Alafua in Apia

One of the worst rental company I dealt as I travel a lot. Excuses to take money of the bond doesn't make sense. Avoid this company. They don't care about customers as they know others book even they have bad reviews.

In 2023, our family of nine was planning a trip for a family reunion in July and we wanted to make sure we secured a van large enough for us. My wife reached out to a handful of rental car places and Moana Rentals sounded very friendly and nice so we decided to go with them and paid the $200 US for the deposit that they said it was refundable. When we arrived at Faleolo Airport, I went over to the Moana Rentals office there and the lady that helped me told me that I had to go and bring the van down because she didn't no how to drive the manual transmission van. When I went to pick up the van. I was very disappointed with the condition of the vehicle. It was an older van, dirty and there were cockroaches everywhere that we had to deal with the whole two weeks we had it. I was very disappointed. We stayed at Taumeasina Resort and one morning our van wouldn't start so I called the rental place for help and we waited for almost two hours for someone to bring an extra battery to replace the dead one so luckily our kids were able to enjoy the beach and the pool at the resort while we were trying to get our van running again. The day we left, I filled up the van with gas, turned in the key to the guy at the rental car office at the airport, filled out some paperwork and a year and a month later we have not received our $200 refundable deposit. My wife reached out to the rental place both by phone and email and actually received an email reply thanking us for our business but the deposit was never addressed. If you are planning to travel to Samoa and are looking for a rental car, I highly recommend that you don't do business with Moana Rentals.

I'm so disappointed in Moana Rentals. Today was my flight back home and because it's a Sunday no gas station was open for us to fill the petrol, I advised the worker if she can take from my bond. She advised that the petrol will be $260 to fill the car and also need to pay a service fee of $25 therefore my bond of $200 will all go towards petrol and I had to pay a extra $85 tala. The petrol was not even on E and I filled the car up a few days before when it was on E and it costed $130 tala! I'm so disappointed considering the battery went flat on our third day and had to wait over an hour for it to get fixed. I feel like some/a lot of places in Samoa wants to rip you off because you're a tourist and they think you have all the money in the world. Never using Moana rentals again!

My elderly mother and I hired a SUV from Moana Rentals, this November 2023. We will definitely be using them next time we are in Samoa. Booking was simple & communication was as expected; Pricing is fair and reasonable; car was clean and tidy. They also provided me with a temporary driver's license which came in handy when stopped by a routine police check! Staff are all very professional and courteous. Unfortunately the car we hired had a battery issue however it took one quick phone call and 30 minutes later Moana Rentals provided an upgraded replacement vehicle which we enjoyed for the remainder of the trip. I have told my friends and family about this great company and I know they will be taken care of by Moana. We can't recommend them enough. Thank you for helping to make our visit to Samoa stress free. We look forward to using you again.

We used Moana rentals for our recent trip to Samoa. Booked in advance and had no issues. Email inquiries were responded to quickly, car was decent for the money that we paid. Overall no issues and everything went smoothly. Thank you Moana Rentals.

If i could give a 0 star i would, So when we got there our car was suppose to be ready at 830 am, we were advised that they were cleaning it and 45mins later they told us its not safe to take, so we have sorted another 1. I was like ok so another 40mins later we got this car, the next day we were on our way to RTP and broke down no power at all, 30 mins out of town, it was raining we had our 2 year old son, took them 2 hrs to come save us. I was not happy at all. The car they swap us was nearly empty it was just a disaster, Didn't compensate anything for that. Just make sure the car is safe before taking it please. We had my son with us on the dangerous car. Not happy at all.

Poor service. Booked, contacted, verified booking, and then arrived at APW and had to wait 25 minutes for someone to arrive to check me in. Vehicle furnished with only 3/4 tank of gas full. We tried our best, but only managed to return just half a tick mark below. No courtesy at all, charged us nearly 100 tala ($30USD) for about 2 liters of fuel max (we had paid 50 Tala for 15 liters earlier that day). Car rental companies should not furnish cars with fuel below full then expect that you can deliver at exactly the same level. Apart from that, vehicle was great, rode well, about 120000km on it. Toyota Vanguard (RAV4 in the US) for decent pricing.

These guys were good to deal with, they replied to enquiries and booked the car in advance of our trip (which was better service than other companies I enquired with). The car was good and clean, a Kia Sportage. They even brought the car to the hotel and picked it up as well (Taumeasina Resort). Would use them again for sure!
