Criminal organisation. If you take the standard insurance, they will fine you with damage. All risk insurance is very expensive. A lot of that fee will go into the pockets of Europcar. I had a standard insurance, and they fined me for 145 euro's for a damage I didn't make. A spot under the front bumper of the car!!! I guess they will fine every other client after me for that who has no all risk. They cannot prove that there was no damage on the car ...and I have to prove that I didn't make that damage! Under the front bumper!!!! Insane and criminal. In this way they make a lot of money because the damage will stay on the car. The next client will pay also for this damage if they have no all risk. So people are almost forced to take all risk insurance...and that provides a lot of extra money. Good business.. but very criminal. This needs to stop!!! Dont go there!!! I drive for more than 25 years damage free in the Netherlands.
Overall a good experience, probably because I bought all the insurance. I have to wait about 30 minutes to get to the desk to pick the car (only two employees were working at the time we arrived 19.00) despite having done everything on line an validating my documents, etc. The car i selected was not available so a bigger car was given to me.

We flew into Alicante for our holiday in San Jose. 300km South, to get good flight times. Europcar were friendly and efficient, and didn't baulk at us having got 3rd party annual excess insurance cover. Nor did they pretend that UK drivers need an international driving licence, like the Catania office apparently does. We'd booked a Polo auto but they upgraded us to a very nice Leon Cupra hybrid. It was nippy as well as frugal, had satnav and the adaptive cruise made the 300km journey to San Jose easy, just one coffee stop and I drove all the way, Near the end of the holiday the Cupra warned of low pressure in the front right tyre. It was visibly flat and Europcar's roadside assistance came within an hour and changed the wheel to the slim 80km max spare. Europcar then told us to drive to Almeria Airport to swap cars. There we were given a very fancy one - an Audi A3 Sport. It had a frugal turbo diesel, adaptive cruise and even steered iteslf if you kept one hand lightly on the wheel. But it was such a nag. If we went at 53kmh on a quiet rural 50km road it would go crazy. On the drive to Alicante it immediately came up with a tyre pressure warning. Not another puncture! It failed to say which tyre but all were fine and we slow steamed to Alicante at 100kmh. Europcar didn't find any damage on either car (we never scraped anything) and charged us a reasonable EUR212 to repair the wide low profile Cupra tyre. We'll claim that back. So it was a pity we had tyre issues but Europcar were pretty good.
We received an outstanding service from the ladies working there. We had an issue with our initial rental car and they helped us navigate the issue and find a solution for the reminder of our travel. We are very grateful :)
Friendly, helpful, English speaking staff who were still there at 23.45 thankfully as our flight had been delayed. Sadly we found out that the insurance via booking.com (PS50) was 3rd party via a 3rd party and to get the proper cover it cost another EUR200. We will know in future but EUR200 is steep for a weeks cover.
I am deeply disappointed with my recent experience at the Alicante Airport branch. Upon arrival, despite having all the necessary documents, including my international driving license (clearly written in Latin letters), I was denied the rental car. The staff member was rude and unprofessional, showing no concern for my situation despite me traveling with a child and a baby after a 12-hour journey. I had to rent a car from Hertz next door with no issues using the same documents, proving that the refusal was completely unjustified. When I returned to express my dissatisfaction, another staff member apologized, stating that the original staff member was "having a bad day." Despite this acknowledgment, I still haven't received any refund for the booking. I expect better service and professionalism and request a full refund for this unacceptable experience. One advise , to be avoided at all cost
Easy process within arriving at the Europcar desk at the airport. We were at the car within 15 minutes. Great service and no pressure to buy extra insurance as I already arranged this before. Offered upgrade to vehicle but no pressure to take offer. Vehicle i got was brand new Mercedes A class. Easy car pick up and return process. Will defo use again.
